Giddings was recognized at the Texas Capitol on April 10 during a celebration of Film Friendly Communities. As of 2025, there are now 200 Film Friendly Communities in Texas and Giddings was the Second to achieve the status, after Smithville. Denice Harlan received a special certificate of thanks from the Office of the Governor. She also had a chance to meet Steven McCaig, Program Specialist for the Governor's Office. Steven is a former Giddings resident.
