Share Your Feedback with TxDOT on the US 77 from FM 2440 to SH 21 project

TxDOT is proposing to improve approximately eight miles of US 77 from FM 2440 to SH 21 in Lee County, Texas. The purpose of the project is to improve safety and enhance mobility for the roadway users.

The Need for Improvements
US 77 is currently a four-lane, undivided highway. There is a need to enhance safety, improve mobility and reduce congestion along US 77 from FM 2440 to SH 21.

The proposed project would:

• Widen US 77 from an existing four-lane, undivided highway to a four-lane, divided highway with a grassy median.
• Add a 10-foot-wide shared-use path on the west side of US 77 from West Independence Street to Giddings High School.
• Replace existing bridges at multiple locations.
• Construct a reduced conflict U-turn (RCUT) intersection at CR 114.
• Construct acceleration and deceleration lanes at CR 237.

We Want Your Input
TxDOT is hosting an in-person public meeting with a virtual option to gather feedback on the proposed design. No formal presentation is planned, and community members are invited to come and go at their convenience.

US 77 Virtual Public Meeting Option
The public meeting materials will be posted on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, by 4:30 p.m. To view the materials, go to www.txdot.gov and search “US 77 from FM 2440 to SH 21”. The virtual public meeting will consist of informational display boards shown at the in-person meeting and opportunities to provide feedback. The information will remain available for viewing throughout the project.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated July 17, 2025, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
